Windows Vista MCTS, MCITP, and Upgrade Bootcamp
Bootcamp Description
Our 7-day Vista bootcamp will help you to achieve your Microsoft Certified IT Professional
(MCITP) Enterprise Support Technician in Windows Vista. This camp is appropriate
no matter what your current certification is. Candidates who hold the MCDST on XP
certification will only need to pass a single upgrade exam, all others will need
to pass two exams. The material covered and length of the camp will be the same
in both cases. The certification of MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician is to Windows
Vista what MCDST is to Windows XP. The upgrade exam 70-621, which is only available
to current MCDST certification holders, is based on the same material and same objectives
as the 70-620 and 70-622 exams.

The new generation of Microsoft certifications
With the release of Vista, Microsoft introduced a new and much more streamlined
certification structure which emphasizes primary skill sets and job roles. This
new structure always begins with a core certification known as MCTS, (Microsoft
certified technology specialist), followed by a more specific and comprehensive
set of skills known as MCITP, (Microsoft certified IT professional). This structure
is being applied to all new Windows product lines. Our Vista camp follows this new
structure.
MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician
The Microsoft Certified IT Professional: Enterprise Support Technician certification
validates the knowledge and skills required to deploy and support the Windows Vista
operating system. Candidates for the MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician credential
should have expertise in deploying Windows client operating systems, managing security
and troubleshooting network issues. Skills gained through MCITP: Enterprise Support
Technician certification include the ability to:
- Manage workflow
- Install and configure desktop operating systems and applications
- Troubleshoot the desktop operating system, desktop applications, and desktop networking
and connectivity
- Install and configure hardware devices and drivers (including mobile and personal
devices)
- Troubleshoot hardware devices and drivers (including mobile and personal devices)
- Escalate complex issues to the appropriate administrator (for example, server administrator,
network administrator, or desktop configuration administrator)
- Install and test department-specific and line-of-business (LOB) applications on
end-user computers
- Change desktop configurations as needed
- Re-image desktops as needed
MCITP candidates must pass one core exam, (70-620) that focuses on responding to
issues assigned or escalated from Tier 1 support, using a trouble ticket system
to manage workflow, installing and configuring desktop operating systems and applications,
troubleshooting desktop operating system issues, desktop application issues, and
desktop networking and connectivity issues.
Successful candidates will also prove their expertise in installing and configuring
hardware devices and drivers (including mobile and personal devices), troubleshooting
hardware devices and drivers (including mobile and personal devices), escalating
complex issues to the appropriate administrator (for example, Server Administrator,
Network Administrator, or Desktop Configuration Administrator), installing and testing
department-specific and line-of-business (LOB) applications on end-user computers,
making necessary changes to end-user desktops, and re-imaging end-user desktops
on an as-needed basis.
